Stokksnes Lighthouse

from $30.00

On the furthest reaches of Iceland's East Coast stands Stokksnes Lighthouse, originally built in 1922 it was part of a WW2 military base operated by the British. In 1958 the lighthouse was updated and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) built a radar station adjacent to the Stokksnes Lighthouse. While no longer used by the military the Stokksnes Lighthouse and radar station are still used to monitor both the sea and skies of Iceland’s East Coast.
